Kepi mod. 1847 from Piedmontese National Guard Soldier

in the original configuration, as adopted at the foundation of the Corps, at the wake of the fateful 1848: tall in shape, with visor and imperial in black varnished leather; the shaft is covered on the outside with black cloth, like a beaver, with velvet overlap and internally with scarlet parchment with alludes in leather; trophy with a Savoyard cross motif in white metal, resting on a large tricolor silk rosette and surmounted by a brass plate noose with red wool tassel bearing the Department number; also stamped in brass are the three lion protome masks intended to hold the metal chain wedge (missing); at the top present woven chevron in yarn originally of white color, indicating the degree of common; in more than good condition considering its age, with thick patina and small, normal ravages of time.
