Figure of Bersagliere from 1848
depiction of Bersagliere Piemontese of '48 in the act of loading the rifle, embroidered in small stitch with only the face and hand in watercolored paper glued to the perforated canvas base; graceful work with a patriotic flavor of the Risorgimento, certainly the work of some young lady from a good family who, as was the custom at the time, must have been an expert in embroidery and who may have given it to a brother or boyfriend in arms (almost inevitable the reference to a small world Antico by A. Fogazzaro ...); preserved in its ancient wooden frame and gilded tablet (small damages and lacks); in good condition with correct period patina.
Overall size 32X35 cm
